West Ham’s summer transfer window burned brightly for the best part of a week in mid-July, a six-day stretched encircled by two long periods of relative inactivity.
During that time, West Ham sealed deals for Joe Hart, Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic, adding to Pablo Zabaleta who arrived on a free transfer at the start of the summer, but their only other signing for the rest of the window was 18-year-old Sead Hakšabanović.
Alongside an overall spend of just £39.4million – an incredibly modest sum by today’s standards – that perhaps explains why so many West Ham fans are unhappy with their club’s transfer window, especially in light of David Sullivan’s claims that the Irons could have ended up signing William Carvalho, Renato Sanches and Grzegorz Krychowiak on Deadline Day but for varying reasons missed out on all three.
Indeed, we asked Hammers supporters last week whether they’re pleased with the Irons’ business in transfer market and according to our poll, a staggering 87% aren’t. But who’s at fault here, West Ham fans – the owners, Slaven Bilic or someone else? Let us know by commenting below!
