The 40-year-old was facing a defensive crisis ahead of the clash against the Blades with Gaetano Berardi and Liam Cooper already suspended and Conor O’Shaughnessy, Luke Ayling and Jansson all potentially out injured, but it now appears as though the Swede will line up in the Yorkshire derby after all.
Leeds haven’t won any of their seven fixtures in all competitions since they beat Burton Albion 2-1 on Boxing Day, and they have now slipped to 10th position and seven points adrift of the Championship play-off positions as a result, with the 4-1 reverse against the Bluebirds proving to be the end of the road for Thomas Christiansen.
While Jansson hasn’t been as influential as he was for the club last term, he is still a big character and one that you want in derby clashes like the one this weekend, when he comes up against a player in Leon Clarke who has scored 15 league goals during the current campaign.
