da roleta: Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe is losing hope that he will ever add to his 55 England caps before deciding to call it a day on his professional career.
da stake casino: At the age of 34, the clock is ticking on the forward’s time competing at the top level, but he has maintained that he is open to an England call.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has scored 19 goals for his country, but his last appearance came two years ago in a friendly against Chile.
Defoe was overlooked by Roy Hodgson for the European Championships in the summer, despite scoring 15 Premier League goals to help the Black Cats retain their top-flight status.
Gareth Southgate is now the permanent manager of the national side, but it is unclear whether he will turn to Defoe for striking options.
This season so far, Defoe has found the back of the net eight times in 14 league appearances, but the player thinks that he would still miss out on a place in the England squad even if he won the Golden Boot. He told talkSPORT:
“I’ve not heard anything. It’s not like I’ve given up, but it does get to a point where you think, is it ever going to happen? I feel good, it’s the sharpest I’ve felt in a long time.
“I’m enjoying training every day, I feel sharp, I feel strong, I feel fit and I feel confident – and for a striker that’s so important. But I almost feel like it doesn’t matter what I do, even if I get the Golden Boot I still don’t think I’d get called up.
“I don’t really like talking about it. I wouldn’t want the gaffer [Moyes] to have a word [with Southgate] because you get called up on merit, so I’ll just keep letting my football do the talking.”
