Arsenal were restricted with what they were able to do in the transfer window last month, managing to bring in only Denis Suarez on a loan deal due to financial reasons.
And the north London club could now be set to follow a similar theme when the market opens again in the summer.
The Breakdown
The Daily Mirror reports that Unai Emery will only have £40m to spend to improve his squad which will come as a huge blow to the Spaniard and supporters.
Arsenal are in desperate need of reinforcements, especially in defence, if they are to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
At this moment of time, Emery’s squad does not even look capable of finishing higher than fifth place, showing just how much investment is probably needed.
But with that now looking unlikely, the Gunners could find themselves in serious trouble next term.
Liverpool and Tottenham are only getting better while Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea will all be expected to spend big as usual once the transfer window is open again.
Player sales, of course, could help generate more funds for Arsenal to spend with Mesut Ozil being one name who could end up leaving the Emirates and bring big money in.
Still, a club of Arsenal’s stature finding themselves in this situation is bizarre, leaving Stan Kroenke with a lot to answer for.
