da gbg bet: Manchester City are in need of a serious overhaul this summer if last weekend’s defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United is anything to go by.
da esoccer bet: Club officials effectively sacked Manuel Pellegrini in the middle of the season and since their Capital One Cup victory, the Citizens have been on an extremely slippery slope.
Whereas many pundits and supporters alike thought that the silverware-winning trip to Wembley could kick-start their season, it’s effectively bought an end to the Pellegrini era at the Etihad Stadium.
It’s seemed clearer and clearer in recent weeks that perhaps management isn’t the only issue at City, with some of the players really struggling to perform to the levels shown when they won the title a couple of seasons ago.
It’s a squad that’s full of talent, but if you were to ask where City would be at this point in the season back in August, many wouldn’t have said fourth, 15 points away from the summit.

For a squad that has had so much money spent on it, this finish they’re lurching towards isn’t good enough, and although there is still eight games remaining, it is going to take some push to mount even an outside title challenge.
The normally calm Pellegrini stormed out of his post-match interview and with Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling both facing spells on the touchline after sustaining injuries in the derby, City’s squad looks in need of additions more than ever.
Over £150m was spent in the summer with Enes Unal, Patrick Roberts and Fabian Delph all failing to make the grade. £44m was spent on Raheem Sterling and while some argue he’s been decent, look to the example set by Dimitri Payet at West Ham and you can’t say he’s been worth the money when the Frenchman only cost £10m.
Out of them all, Kevin De Bruyne has been the best performer but at £50m+, he was no snip either.
But, it’s been some of the older flames that seem to be hitting their peaks a little too early. Yaya Toure doesn’t look a shadow of his former self, Eliaquim Mangala doesn’t look solid enough to lead a Premier League team to glory and Vincent Kompany is too heavily relied upon.
But one of the worst offenders is Martin Demichelis. He had an absolute shocker in the Manchester derby and looks years past his best. Unfortunately for City they had to play the former Bayern Munich man on, but he was dreadful and somewhat epitomises the need for a serious rebuild in the City ranks.
But how do they go about the overhaul? Throw millions and millions of pounds at some of Europe’s biggest talents? This is how many expect them to go about it but it comes with its difficulties, some of which they’re facing at the moment.
Five years after they sign these players they will be on their way out. Look at Toure – five years ago he was one of the best midfielders in the world, but his decline has been extremely noticeable.
Pep has some serious work to do.
