da gbg bet: The Premier League is currently blessed with an abundance of world-class managers, with Arsene Wenger, Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp amongst those leading English football’s elite.
da bwin: Klopp, who took charge at Anfield halfway through last season, has led Liverpool valiantly since moving to the Premier League and has got the best out of his players, whilst Pep Guardiola has enjoyed similar fortune in the first half of his inaugural season with Manchester City.
With both enjoying vast success during their careers and coming toe-to-toe with each other during their time in Germany, comparisons with the pair are understandable but it is difficult to decide who is the superior of the two.
However, former Liverpool man Dietmaar Hamann backs the boss leading his old club due to one reason in particular. Quoted by the Liverpool Echo, he said:
“The way Jurgen Klopp celebrates with his players makes him stand out in the Premier League. There’s a bond there which you don’t get at any other club.”
“Those players would go through a brick wall for their manager – more so than any other club in the league. Pep Guardiola certainly doesn’t seem to have the same connection with his Manchester City players.”
“Klopp has also made a cut-throat decision, whereas Pep hasn’t. Both clubs have had goalkeeper problems this season, but Klopp has dropped Loris Karius and brought back Simon Mignolet.”
“There was huge pressure on Karius after high-profile mistakes against Bournemouth and West Ham, and while Klopp defended him in the press, he changed him and dealt with the issue behind closed doors.”
Whilst Hamann’s point is a good one, it’s difficult to overlook the vast success that Guardiola has achieved during his illustrious managerial career and the debate is unlikely to be settled entirely until one of the duo lifts a trophy with their side.
Having seen Liverpool defeated in two finals last season, Klopp will be hoping to go one-step forward this season whilst Guardiola will be looking for instant success at the Etihad.
