da betsul: Having made his debut in the Premier League clash against Liverpool, Japhet Tanganga looked like a player Tottenham could quite conceivably build their defence around for the years to come – after all, he locked down Ballon d’Or contender Sadio Mane with ease, restricting the Senegal international to just two shots.
da lvbet: At just 20 years of age, the Spurs academy product has time on his side, but as with any young player, is completely reliant on his manager to nurture him carefully. Unfortunately for him, these early weeks of his game-time under Jose Mourinho have shown that may not be the case.
The majority of his career at youth level was spent playing at centre-back, and as a youngster trying to make the grade, being given the opportunity to play in the position you feel most comfortable in, is an absolute necessity.

Instead, Mourinho has frustratingly thrown him all over the place. In less than two months of his debut, Tanganga has played five games at centre-back, three games at left-back, and three games at right-back.
There has been no consistency whatsoever, and all that does is mess with the starlet’s head. Things like positioning go out the window by being constantly pushed out of the comfort zone, and it becomes far more difficult for him to become settled into life as a first-team regular when he is always wary of changes being made to his role.
One of Spurs’ rising stars risks having his long-term career compromised by a manager who has developed a bit of a reputation as someone who can either stall or ruin a young talent. Just look at the likes of Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in his time at Chelsea, or players like Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw at Manchester United.
What could’ve been… Can you name the clubs these football legends almost joined?
Both Salah and De Bruyne in particular have gone on to establish themselves as two of the Premier League’s best players, and neither were afforded a real opportunity under Mourinho – in fact, between them, they managed just 28 appearances in total for the Portuguese man.
By not managing Tanganga properly, the current Spurs boss is threatening to compromise the future of yet another talented starlet.
Meanwhile, this Spurs ace endured a nightmare display against Wolves.
